Gravesham LVA Banquet and Ball

Polly Bridges, barmaid at The Rose in Northfleet, draws the winner of our holiday for two prize

This year’s venue for the Gravesham LVA Banquet and Ball was The Inn on the Lake. Being held on Halloween I was surprised not to bump into a ghost or two on the night!

Organised by Wendy Cherry and her team and chaired by Slim Nijjer, the evening started with a lovely three course meal. The meal was followed by speeches and an excellent display of Irish dancing by the St John’s Irish Dancers. Punjabi folk dancing from the Jugnu Bhangra Group entertained us, with DJ Martin Cee spinning the discs for the rest of the evening.

Toastmaster for the evening was Jim Knowles, whose wit kept the event in full flow. It was lovely to see so many of our customers and friends.

Ivor Thomas was this year’s presidential company and we were delighted to use the occasion to make the prize draw for a holiday for two, to round off a year of celebrations to mark our 40 years in business. Polly Bridges, who won the heads and tails prize, had the honour of drawing the winner. The top prize, worth £1,600, was won by Malcolm McConnon from the Black Boy. Congratulations to Malcolm and we hope you enjoy your holiday.

Well done and thank you to everyone who made the evening such a success.
